Complexity reducing models and algorithms for optimal urban traffic

The central point of the research project is the improvement of vehicular traffic at traffic light controlled intersections. Optimization problems are solved to determine the best behaviour of each driver and infrastructure with respect to previously defined performance indices. Various traffic situations are considered. The goal is the development of mathematical models and algorithms that can describe complex and realistic traffic situations and solve those within reasonable time.
